plugin does not seem to work & other questions

jEdit 4.3pre5

java 1.5

I'm looking for a way to see spaces, tabs, end of lines.

Most editors have a toggle toolbar button or key sequence that will show spaces as dots for example. Very handy to format and line things up on a page.

I don't see the command for this in Jedit.

Note I tried the plugin "Whitespace" but it must be broken - cause it seems to do nothing(?) Show spaces has no effect.

Also I set the the faint blue wrap guide line to not show in the global options - but when I restart jedit the change is not saved and it shows up again. Also is there a way to toogle this line on/off from the toolbar?

Thanks

Wow!

Now that I am understanding JEdit more I must say it is a wonderful editor.

Really impressive.
Whitespace plugin

The Whitespace plugin works well for me (also jEdit 4.3pre5). The "show spaces" action toggles visibility of the configured types of whitespaces. There are 3 toggles for them (leading, trailing, ..)

There's no integrated function for toggling spaces. But You can create a toolbar button and assign any action or macro to it. To toggle all Whitespaces use the following macro (but toggle all types of spaces and tabs ON before):
whitespace.WhiteSpaceActions.toggleSpaceHighlight(buffer);
whitespace.WhiteSpaceActions.toggleTabHighlight(buffer);
whitespace.WhiteSpaceActions.toggleWhitespaceHighlight(buffer);

The display of wrap line and line ends is toggled in "global options | textarea". If jedit forgets any settings then try to delete jedit's settings directory.
