download the latest version - and download plugins from within jedit - and the jcompiler and console plugins crash with beanshell errors.

what a load of cow manure!!!! whoever coded this piece of dung needs to get a university degree!!

If we released crap like jedit in my company - we would be sacked instantly!

At least you should be lucky that your company doesn't sack idiots..

Try the 4.1.2 version of the console.

idiots and jedit

Of course I already tried downgrading to 4.1.2 of jconsole - that does makes jcompiler work but the console is now broken. No command can be executed from the console - just sits there until you press the enter key. The path prompt of console is coloured green!

SO - what you can have is

a) jcompiler working with an older version of jconsole (4.1.2) BUT CONSOLE NOT WORKING

OR

b) jconsole (4.2.xx) working BUT JCOMPILER NOT WORKING.

Explain to me how that situation is NOT CRAP!!! If you are like me are a software developer (definately NOT an IDIOT) - how would we explain to clients that they can have one functionality or another in their program - but not both - would they accept that mediocrity???

Plugin technologies only work if there is close integration with the parent application.

Clearly in jedit's case - it is an ad-hoc process!! Oh...we know that they don't work together ... maybe we will fix it ... maybe we wont!!!

It wouldn't be so bad except the jedit spindoctors wax lyrical over jedit's stable and mature development process.

Yes the jcompiler hasn't been

Yes the jcompiler hasn't been updated for the latest 4.2.x console. Looks like there is some API changes at least. And I have noted that here before. Looks like the persons developing jcompiler are not active anymore or something.

I personally haven't noticed any blustering about jEdit development process and clearly the burden of working plugins rests on the respective developers. And at least I am grateful for these people for providing a free editor.

(For wrinting Java I have moved to NetBeans.. Much better environment for doing that.)
