Mac os X and JDK 1.5

I am sure thisquestion hasbeen asked and answered manytimebut I couldn't yet find the info. . How do you changethe PATH and HOME of your java once Java1.5 is install ?

If you install the latest Java 5 Release 4 from here:

http://developer.apple.com/java/download/

Java 5 should become a default version so there should be nothing special needed to make your Java apps use this version.

Actual Java implementations on Mac OS reside here:

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework

There are links to the "Current" Home, Commands etc. there, particular versions can be found here:

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions

JAVA_HOME should point to the Home folder of the version you want. PATH I usually set to point to $JAVA_HOME/bin (that's more portable than using "Commands" which are probably equivalent)

If you want to experiment, a preview of Java 6 is also available from Apple Developer Connection.
