Regression bug in 4.3pre9: bad FTP plugin behaviour
Submitted by Lemon Juice on Wednesday, 24 January, 2007 - 09:19
I don't know whether this is FTP plugin's bug or main jedit bug, but here it is: opening a remote file from the file system browser takes very long time - I measured it's 45 seconds even for very small files. The same files are being opened almost in an instant when I reverted back to 4.3pre8. The same applies to saving files. Perhaps the FTP plugin needs to be updated for 4.3pre9 but the plugin manager didn't find any updates. I'm on WinXP SP2, Java version 1.5.0_10-b03.

so the ftp used to bereally fast, since updating it's wether really slow when I use passive mode or not working at all when not using passive mode. Really slow down my production time since I have to wait about 1 min every save o ftp. The funny thing is that it does save fast (since I look at abrowser at the same time) like it take 2 sec and the page is saved but still jEdit hang there for like a minute (I sarted to play with mynintendo ds each time I do we editing jsut because of this bug)

Using mac 10.4.8 ppc and jEdit 4.3pre9 (everything was fine one version ago)

Looking forward to get this fix Smiling

I just tried, it seems like it is the same for me... but with linux (SuSE10.1), jre 1.5.0_10.
I tried to open a file on an ftp server, ~45 seconds
I also tried opening a plain http URL, that are handled (to my knowledge) directly by jedit, but here everything is ok, so can I guess the problem is in the FTP plugin?

for me the same. Mac OS X

for me the same.

Mac OS X 10.4.8

java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-113)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-68, mixed mode, sharing)

I tried to remove the .jedit folder and I tried several FTP-Servers => all the same.
