Double-cliquing this an error window opens showing:

Hi,
You should close jEdit and delete recent.xml in Your settings directory.

I hope this is the solution and also the answer for Your problem with the list of recent files.

Thanks!

This solved the problem of recent files (the other message), but not the utf8 problem.

Should I delete all the files which where created peviously to the prev. 16?

Thanks,

Alain

Yes I would rename the whole settings directory, when jEdit isn't running. jEdit creates a new one at next start.

In case of success You can copy Your old "properties" file to the automatically re-created directory. Maybe there are some more files You want to copy from the old directory. But most of the files are not needed.

OK it's solved.

I could not simply rename or delete the old directory (jEdit is always running, partly started automatically at startup, which speed up the start when needed), so I just suppressed the old files and the error disappeared.

Thanks,

Alain
