saving remote files via ftp crashes internet connection

Hi!
I have very unexpected problem with JEdit 4.3 and FTP-plugin 0.9.7 (Java 1.6.0_18, Windows XP Service Pack 3)
I can view directories and open files via FTP protocol but when I try to save changes my internet connection crashes (I reproduced it in 100% of cases; It is even more strange assuming I connect via router not directly via VPN or PPP).
It happens with any server I tried and any time.

Other ftp clients connect and modify files normally.

Saving via SFTP protocol also goes normally.

P.S. I have older JEdit on another machine and older FTP plugin (can't remember exact version now). They work with no such errors. So I'm really surprised...

Two-stage save

Did You try to disable "Global Options -> Saving & Backup -> Two-stage save"?

Yes, I did (actually it was turned off; I tried both on and off - nothing works).

More interesting thing is when saving under one-stage save (two-stage is off) internet connection crashes and modem (192.168.1.1) stops to respond ping requests.
After some time after that (when there is no connection already) jEdit shows that file is saved (red marker disappears).
When I reestablished connection and reload this file it turned to consist only one byte - first (I exactly remember that I saved it at entirely another state).

Actually there is a thread with the same problem described in it (but no solution suggested):

Did You already try to toggle "passive mode" in the connect dialog? Do You connect via proxy? Another try could be to invoke "Plugins -> FTP -> Clear FTP directory cache".

If nothing helps You should add a comment to the bug tracker.

Still doesn't work
by 1234ru on Mon, 22/02/2010 - 18:35
Actually I hurried up with my joy.

It still doesn't work with files more than 515 bytes long.. (520 for sure)
When file is short - everything goes normal. But once it is few longer than 500 symbols - it still crashes.

I posted a bug report:

Can I turn off ftp directory caching?
by 1234ru on Mon, 22/02/2010 - 17:40
By the way, can I somehow turn remote directory caching at all?

(I have other people working with the same file so I'm afraid to wipe out changes they made because those changes were more recent than mine and thus were not cached)

Robert, thanks alot! Turni

Robert, thanks alot!

Turning passive mode off and clearing ftp directory cache solved the problem.

I'm really happy I can use jEdit for remote files again!
