The afternoon, I released a batch of 25 plugins to Plugin Central. The packaging of this release was done once again by Slava Pestov and Ollie Rutherfurd.

• Activator 1.0.0: initial Plugin Central release; requires jEdit 4.2pre8, CommonControl 0.8.2, and JDK 1.5

This morning, I have updated the Plugin Central database with the latest batch of plugin releases. This batch has once again been packaged and prepared for release by Oliver Rutherfurd and Slava Pestov. It consists of an even dozen of this year's hottest new plugins.

• ActionHooks 0.5: plugins can add support for custom EditBus messages; fixed plugin reloading bug; requires jEdit 4.2pre3 and JDK 1.3
• ColumnRuler 0.9.0: (0.8.0 changes) this release adds line guides, a tab indicator, the number of selected characters, allows the plugin to be active by default, and makes it all more configurable; requires jEdit 4.2pre8 and JDK 1.4
• CommentFolder 1.0.0: initial Plugin Central release; requires jEdit 4.2pre8 and JDK 1.4

One artifact should be filed per plugin per version. Once you file an artifact, me and Ollie will decide who will package it for the next batch, and if we have issues with the building we will add comments to the artifact.

When the plugin is released as part of a batch, the artifact will be closed.

With Plugin Central's bandwidth requirements averaging nearly 2 gigabytes per day, the prospects of finding a single provider willing to host the site for free from among jEdit's users are not good. Even if the site load could somehow be balanced across servers hosted by multiple providers, the number of servers that would be necessary to make the resource requirements reasonable to ask of volunteers would be large enough to make that possibility even less likely. For that reason, we have established a new jedit-plugins project on SourceForge to host Plugin Central. The transition from Standard Media's server to SourceForge should be completed within the next few weeks.

• FastOpen 0.6: fixed a small bug when FastOpen would get a NPE on clicking OK/Cancel in Global Options box when FastOpen options were not changed; new Regular Expressions support for finding files; added a new option in the Global Options to toggle Ignorecase when doing Search; documentation to FastOpen has been included in this release which was only in form of Release Notes & Change logs in previous version; requires jEdit 4.0pre1, ProjectViewer 1.0.2, and JDK 1.3
