Better webhosting and message boards needed!
Submitted by Anonymous on Thursday, 12 May, 2005 - 19:05
jEdit is great editor. But it has awfull website. It is incredible slow, still failures. When I try to view message board, I give up after while because I do not have time to wait minutes for few pages to display.

Message boards aren't better too. They are full of spams (e.g. http://community.jedit.org/?q=node/view/1733), when people try to increase their pagerank by linking to their sites. They are not well-aranged, etc etc!

How about moving to any better webhostig (e. g. sourceforge.net, or trying to get sponsored hosting) and impoving message boards?

Hi,

just to say that jEdit is the best editor I've ever used;
the plugins are also very helpful.
It's great to see the power of java.

could the moderators delete the "junk" posts from the forums?
Submitted by Anonymous on Saturday, 29 January, 2005 - 01:07
Some idiot has been posting a lot of crap with links to porn sites.

For example, see the messages with heading "ciao ciao".

Could someone remove these? It's like unwanted graffiti.

Thanks,

Allow < code > and/or < ? php > for Input
Submitted by Anonymous on Thursday, 27 January, 2005 - 21:31
Drupal is currently not set to allow < code > or < ?php > for input. I would like to share some code, but this is difficult with the current settings which will not display the code as I would like within a posting.

Even for this posting I needed to add a space after < and > . Thanks
Congrats to the jEdit guys

I'm a man of few [misspelled] words, so I'll make it brief.

Over the last three or fours months, not by choice, but by smell of money, I've been doing more and more Java development. As such, I've been in search of a Java development environment. I've tried all of the IDEs out there - Eclipse, NetBeans, JBuilder, JDeveloper, etc. Then I came upon jEdit. I've given it a passing glance years ago, but the level of polish and professionalism that it has since obtained is simply astounding. I am trully speechless. It feels like it's really *MY* editor for J2EE projects. I LOVE it. This is coming from a cynic who got started eleven years ago doing assembler under DOS and has coded in everything from DOS's qedit to Borlands Turbo C++ to FTE.

Great job, guys!

Now where is that donate link...
Forum Search?
Submitted by Anonymous on Wednesday, 15 December, 2004 - 23:02
Is there a forum search? or is it only available to registered users? I've used the search at the top of the page, but that appears to just be a site news search.

Thanks!

jEdit website pages fail to display
Submitted by Anonymous on Thursday, 2 December, 2004 - 03:20
From the Forums page, I clicked on the "Installing jEdit" link. Instead of the desired page, I was presented with the following message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 191 bytes) in /home/groups/j/je/jedit-community/htdocs/includes/module.inc on line 57

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 64 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

Refreshing reloaded the page correctly.

I have encountered this problem previously on this website.
What is a "Drupal ID"
Submitted by rovf on Tuesday, 23 November, 2004 - 09:03
When I registered at jEdit Community, my registration data also contained
a "Drupal ID", which looks like an email address - in my case, it is
rovf@community.jedit.org. Where is the mailbox associated with this address?

Jedit4.0 (not jEdit 4.0)
Submitted by Anonymous on Monday, 4 October, 2004 - 00:54
Found another jedit. Hmm, even the most recent version numbers are pretty close. Although I get a feeling that this one is more of a "Japanese edit" rather than "Java edit." What are the possible ramifications of this? Would a worm hole in the spacetime continuum appear that connects us to a parallel universe (haven't seen back to the future in a while)...??
jEdit takes ages to load, 4+ minutes when before it was seconds
Submitted by Anonymous on Monday, 20 September, 2004 - 16:03
Hi,

[suse linux 9.0 kernel 2.4.21-243-default i686]

I had jedit 4.1 final and recently it begun taking ages to load jEdit. Time that used to be a few seconds is now 4+ minutes !!!

Also, if i have another program(e.g. cervisia) specify jedit as it's text editor, selecting edit on a file would result in a huge delay before that file appeared in jedit. This huge delay is also in the order of 4+ minutes !!!

I upgraded my java runtime (to 1.5.0) and my jedit to 4.2final, but i still have this problem.

Basically, while it's loading i just get the splash screen up with the jEdit logo and version, and that stays in the foreground until jEdit is fully loaded. (which is a bit of a pain when it takes this long as it can be in the way of other apps).

I use the same apps all the time so nothing stands out in relation to running other apps. Everything else runs fine as far as I can tell.

I would be really grateful if anybody esle out there who may have had this problem could help me with it, or if anybody has any ideas on possibilities.

Also, if i can provide anything that could help in diagnosing this problem just let me know.

Thanks in advance,

dave

[bug]Comments not shown in other downloads (..?q=filestore/...)
Submitted by venimus on Saturday, 4 September, 2004 - 05:40
"# comments/view comments" and "Read more" are not displayed at filestore section. I noticed this in Edit Modes section when it is called from Other Downloads. They appear if one clicks on "Edit Modes" link near the title of a posted issue. That link open the site with ?q=taxonomy/.. (rather than ?q=filestore/..) where everything works ok.
As far as i can remember, all worked ok in the beginning of the year.
