Hi, I am actually using jEdit on Windows Vista
is there any way how to set it us default editor, so I can just double click on a php file and it opens in jEdit?
at the moment I have to drag the files inside the editor window, or right click on them and select Open with jEdit

Not sure about Vista, but in XP, you can just right click on any php file and click "Properties". From there, under "File Type" you can choose to open this type in.... click "Choose" or "Change" and then find jEdit.

That should set it up to open all php files in jEdit.

In Vista on properties of the file I have:
Opens with: application name - Change
clicking on change I can select an application, so I tried already selecting jedit.jar
but because it's just the jar it tells that it's not possible to open a file in that application because it's not a Win32 valid application

I tried also specifying "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "C:\Program Files\jEdit\jedit.jar" but doesn't work either

Use jEdit Launcher, then use path to jedit.exe Or use Windows installer and use exe file. Here is some more info: http://taat.pl/en/jedit/#launcher -- takeshin

Did you install with the jar?

Did you install with the jar? The Java based installer? You should use the windows installer, it'll create a bat file which you can use in this case.
